NATIONAL FLEXOGRAPHIC ASSOCIATIONS MEET IN BRUSSELS TO FURTHER DISCUSS EUROPEAN COOPERATION
After the first meeting on the 19th of November 2013 in Bologna, which was initiated and hosted by the Italian flexographic association ATIF, EFTA-Benelux now organises a follow-up meeting to further discuss and investigate the possibilities of establishing a European umbrella organisation for the flexographic printing industry.
The national flexographic associations will meet on the 25th of June in Brussels to explore the possibilities of working closer together. All flexographic associations are facing the same challenges. This was already determined in Bologna. The joint need for better education, the growing influence of environmental issues and importance of sustainability, introduction of new European legislation, new available technology and innovations and the continuing consolidation of the industry give cause to sit down and determine the first steps towards .
There is a clear need to work together and to share information and experiences. Furthermore there’s also a need to organise a better representation of our industry at EU level. The establishment of a European Flexographic Technical Association would be very helpful to organise and coordinate these activities and initiatives as ‘the voice of the industry’.
The European flexographic industry is a highly developed industry. Since 1990 the industry has introduced some groundbreaking technical innovations in printing presses, plates and inks, which have raised the overall level of the industry. Today, flexographic printing is being considered as one of the most competitive printing technologies for packaging.
The European FTA meeting in Brussels is hosted by EFTA-Benelux, the flexographic association for the Benelux.
